VARK Results

Today in my tutorial lesson I took a VARK test. This test is used to see what type of learning style an individual has. The results are categorised into five types; Visual, Aural, read/write, kinesthetic, multi-modal.
The score that was assigned to me was mostly visual points:
  • Visual - 10
  • Aural - 1
  • Read/Write - 2
  • Kinestethic - 5
I feel these results are correct, because in my previous studies I have often used videos to research and learn topics. One of the traits of being a visual learner is that hand gestures are used a lot when communicating with people, especially when trying to get a point across; I've noticed I do this very often! When writing reports I also tend to include a lot of graphs and diagrams, in these parts I usually achieve a good mark, it is the actual writing of the report I sometimes struggle with. I will definitely need to improve my reading and writing skills in order to gather the information I need from text books/ journals for my research. I will do this by trying to read more books (not necessarily relevant to my course).

Design For The Internet - Module Blog

In mondays tutorial lesson we were asked to create a blog to keep a record of what we have/will learn from the module 'Design for the Internet'. Link below!

SWOT

Strengths
  • Friendly, no problems with meeting and interacting with new people, I feel confident and positive towards tasks (most of the time).
  • I work well independently, last year in my studies I was assigned the role of team leader so I have no problem completing tasks as a part of a team as well.
  • Good computer skills, the pathway I have chosen is computer networking, previous to this term's studies I achieved a National Diploma in ICT Practioning.

Weaknesses
  • I've never been great at mathematics; however, I plan to brush up!
  • I can lose interest in some things very easily, e.g. reading, math problems etc. I'll have to learn to stay more focused.
  • I'm not very creative (wish I was!)
  • I'm not very good at managing my money, I spend far too much on things I don't need!

Opportunities
  • Get a decent job! (Something I enjoy, with a good salary :)
  • Meet new people, make new friends.
  • Paying off debts.
  • Learn new skills, like how to manage my money adequately (related to the above!)

Threats
  • Sometimes I can be too laid back towards a task, managing to completely overlook the difficulty and the work load; resulting in several all nighters because I left things to the last minute. I tell myself not to do this at the start of every academic year, but it still occurs occasionally.
  • Losing interest in topics.
  • Mathematics! I need to get more help with this.
